The drawer that will not shut
You are making the bed, the clean sheets are in your hands, and the drawer will not shut because it is already full. Sound familiar? A cheap divan bed with drawers fixes that quietly, every single day. The drawers sit in the base of the bed, so your bedding, clothes and shoes have a home, and your bedroom floor stays clear.
A divan bed with a mattress and two storage drawers costs from £230 at Kensley Home, or from £260 with four drawers. The base alone starts at £130. Every size comes with free UK delivery and you pay in cash when it arrives. Below are the divan bed with drawers prices for every size, so you can compare before you buy. What size should you choose?
Start with your room. A single divan base with drawers is 90 cm wide, so it fits a child's room or a guest room, and it costs £230 with a mattress and two drawers. A small double divan with drawers is 120 cm wide and costs £260 with a mattress and two drawers. That is the size to pick when one person wants room to stretch out.
A divan bed with drawers in double size is 135 cm wide and costs £260 with a mattress and two drawers, the same as the small double. A king size divan base with drawers is 150 cm wide and costs £290 with a mattress and two drawers. A king size divan bed with 4 drawers costs £320 with a mattress. Every size is 200 cm long, the standard UK length.
Ask yourself one question before you order: can you open the drawers? You need about 50 to 60 cm of clear floor beside the bed for a drawer to open fully. Measure the space, then pick 2 drawers or 4.
2 drawers or 4 drawers?
2 drawers suit a bed against a wall: put both drawers on the open side.
4 drawers suit a bed with space on both sides. You need about 50–60 cm of clear floor beside the bed for a drawer to open fully. A 4 drawer divan gives you a drawer on each side, so two people can each have their own storage.
Need more storage than drawers give? A gas-lift ottoman bed uses the whole space under the mattress. Read about it here: https://kensleyhome.com/blogs/blog/cheap-ottoman-beds-with-mattress-uk.
What fits in the drawers?
Drawers are for the things you reach for every week. Spare bedding and pillowcases fit easily. So do folded clothes, pyjamas, towels and shoes. Heavy things like books are better in a wardrobe, because a full drawer is harder to pull out. Keep the drawers for soft, light things and they will glide for years.

Questions people ask
Can the drawers go on either side? Yes, on most models. Tell us which side of the bed is against the wall when you order, and we will set the drawers on the open side. If you are not sure, message us on WhatsApp and we will help you decide.
Do I have to build it myself? The base arrives ready to use. You do not need tools or flat-pack building for a divan base. The headboard, if you order one, fixes to the base with two bolts.
How long does delivery take? Free delivery across the UK, next-day in selected areas when you order before 7 PM. London, Scotland and Wales cost £20 extra per item. You pay on delivery, in cash, after you have checked the bed.
Is the mattress included? Only in the packages. The base alone starts at £130, and the base with a mattress starts at £190 for a single. The prices in the table above show every option, so there are no surprises.
